How it works

Three things, all of them quick.

  1. Rate in fifteen seconds

One slider from 1 to 10, would you go back, and a line if you feel like it. Done before the bill arrives.

  2. Follow people whose taste you know

Friends, the colleague who always knows a place, a handful of Stockholm tastemakers. Bring your Instagram follows and we match the ones already here.

  3. Read scores made of their opinions

Every number is personalised. Your friends count most, people you follow a little less, strangers barely at all. The same place can be a 9 for you and a 7 for someone else, and both are right.

The scale

Tens, not stars.

  • 3not good
  • 5fine
  • 7really good
  • 8great
  • 9.5one of the best

Five stars squeezes every restaurant into 4.1 to 4.6. Ten points, in halves, leaves room for "fine" and "go tonight" to be different numbers. A 7 is really good. An 8 is great. A 9.5 is one of the best meals in the city.

Why not just check Google

A rating is only as good as who gave it.

Star-rating sites

Thousands of strangers, averaged. Tourists, one-off visitors, the parking, the queue. Everything lands between 4.1 and 4.6 and tells you almost nothing.

krogat

A handful of people you chose, weighted by how well you know them, how much they have rated and how recently they went. Small in number, high in signal.

Google, Tripadvisor and the guides still appear on each restaurant page, as context next to the score. They are never mixed into it.

Questions, answered

What is krogat?

krogat is a restaurant rating app for Stockholm where every score is personalised. You rate a visit from 1 to 10 in about fifteen seconds, follow people whose taste you trust, and see scores built from their ratings: friends count most, people you follow count less, strangers barely count.

How is krogat different from Google Maps or Tripadvisor?

Google and Tripadvisor average everyone equally, so almost every restaurant ends up between 4.1 and 4.6 stars. krogat weights each rating by who gave it relative to you, how credible that rater is and how recent the visit was, on a 1–10 scale. External ratings are shown as context on each restaurant page but never blended into the krogat score.

What does the Everyone score mean?

The Everyone score is what all krogat members think, weighted by each rater's credibility and how recent their visit was, and pulled gently toward the city average until enough people have rated. It is the same for every visitor. Sign in and you get a For you score built around the people you follow.

Is krogat free?

Yes, krogat is free during the beta. Nobody can pay to change a score, and restaurants cannot buy placement.

Do I need to download an app?

No. krogat is a website that installs to your home screen like an app on iPhone and Android. Open the link, sign in with email or Google, and start rating.

Which cities does krogat cover?

Stockholm, neighbourhood by neighbourhood. More cities come as members rate them.
